Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state government will soon simplify the non-agricultural (NA) process for those in residential zones (yellow) in urban areas. Stating that citizens in urban areas have to make rounds of government offices to seek NA certificates, Fadnavis said the state revenue department will soon evaluate how to simplify the process and work out a system to do away with NA certificates.

MCG has recorded a 66% jump in revenues from stamp duty in the first five months of this fiscal as compared to the same period last year attributing this to an increase in the number of registries. The civic body has earned Rs 123 crore from stamp duty between April 1 and August 31 - a large hike from the Rs 74.3 crore collected in these five months in 2021.

According to the businessmen, the rates of white sand, steel, cement and all other material used in construction have increased by such extent that the cost of construction has risen manifold.

Shyam Steel, a TMT bars producer and manufacturer, plans to undertake investments of around Rs 2,500 crore in brownfield and greenfield projects to expand its production capacity from current 0.7 million tonnes a year to 1 million tonnes a year by April 2023. Shyam Steel reported a turnover of Rs 4,500 crore in the last fiscal year and will be looking to double it to Rs 9,000 crore in the next three years' time.

The ambitious incentive scheme of the civic body to encourage Amdavadis to install for rooftop solar panels has fallen flat on its face. Till date, just 50 citizens have applied for the rebate scheme and none of these applications have been cleared by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The scheme was only open to bungalows, row houses and duplexes.

Cricketer Virat Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma have jointly bought a nearly 8-acre land parcel at Alibaug near Mumbai through two separate transactions for nearly Rs 19.24 crore. Of the registrations that were carried out for two land parcels, the first one measures 2.54 acres, whereas the second land parcel measures 4.91 acres. The couple has paid stamp duty worth Rs 1.15 core for the conclusion of the deal that was registered.

Morgan Stanley Asia bought 9.4 lakh shares of cement manufacturer ACC Ltd for over Rs 215 crore through an open market transaction. According to bulk deal data available with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Morgan Stanley Asia (Singapore) Pte purchased 9,41,557 shares of the company.The shares were acquired at an average price of Rs 2,290 apiece.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) to initiate proceedings against lessees for recovery of penalty and environmental compensation for illegal extraction of sand from Bughabalanga river under Badasahi tehsil in Mayurbhanj district. The NGT's East Zone bench on Wednesday said given that illegal mining to the extent of over 1.49 lakh cubic metres of excess sand has been established at Mahupura, Dingiria and Arapata.
